CACC & PAGB
There are hundreds of camera clubs across the UK and Worldwide. In the UK the overarching organisation for the clubs is the
‘Photographic Alliance of Great Britain’ (PAGB). https://thepagb.org.uk/
This organisation:
·      Offers qualifications and distinctions
·      Supports ‘Salons’ – these are National competitions for advanced photographers
·      Provides leadership in defining things that need to be common across all clubs – for example: The definition of certain genres such as nature / The appropriate use of AI in club photography / Standards for Judges
·      PAGB also host one of the top National Print competitions – called ‘Master of Print’
Within the PAGB are regional Associations – Tring Club belongs to a group of around 35 clubs called the:
Chiltern Association of Camera Clubs (CACC). https://thecacc.org.uk/
This organisation:
·      Trains, Develops and organises Judges whom travel to club competitions across the region to provide expert feedback and scoring of images.
·      Acts as a support organisation to the member clubs – giving advice and practical support on thing such as insurance
·      Organises regional competitions – such as an annual knockout competition called ‘The Rose Bowl’. (Tring have decided not to take part in this) and also an annual ‘Championship Day’ where clubs compete as clubs and as individuals.
TDCC is a member of CACC and therefore PAGB and this entitles members:
·      To enter any of the competitions at National or Regional level
·      To apply for one of the PAGB qualifications
·      To receive a monthly newsletter that shares great images and advertises events
For more advice on these benefits, please contact Peter Cox club.president.tdcc@gmail.com whom manages relationships with both organisations, has a PAGB qualification and is a winner of the Master of Print competition.
